MAOMI receives international SIT Furniture Design Award!
After our wall installation HOOKS was already awarded the prestigious German Design Award 2023, it has now also received the SIT Furniture Design Award! We are thrilled about this honor and grateful for the recognition of our unique coat hooks.
The SIT Furniture Design Award is given to furniture and interior design entries from around the world that push the boundaries of design and bring innovative products to life. It was created to celebrate and share the remarkable work of furniture designers and those who use furniture in their projects. The aim of the SIT Award: to make exceptional creativity and innovative vision known in the furniture design community and to celebrate it worldwide.
The HOOKS wall installation by MAOMI is a designer coat rack and an innovative art object in one. The idea of the form comes from the artist's hand, was taken as an impression from the model and cast in earthenware and glazed in the production facility in Sri Lanka. Instead of passing on a 3D model to factories for mass production, a transnational collaboration takes place here , from one creative hand to another, from workshop to workshop.
The family-run manufacturer in Sri Lanka attaches great importance to social fairness - the central criterion when selecting our production partner. Particular emphasis is also placed on equality, inclusion and ecological efficiency - sustainability is not only practiced in an environmentally conscious way, but also socially.
In color and shape, HOOKS are reminiscent of pebbles that have been finely polished by water. Their feel conveys a pleasant warmth due to their natural origin in the design and production process and combines aesthetic pleasure with minimalist functionality.
When the HOOKS are mounted on the wall, the user's creativity comes into play. There are no limits to installation - HOOKS can be placed however you like to create works of art indoors or outdoors.
