MAOMI x VIETNAM
Our production facility in Vietnam impressed us both from a craftsmanship perspective and in terms of social standards within the company. The company is part of an international development cooperative that is committed to economic and ecological sustainability in developing and emerging countries.
We spent four weeks in the factory in Vietnam. Our producer and his team have craftsmanship and knowledge that are based on many years of working with porcelain. At the same time, the owner of the factory offers her approximately 80 employees labor law standards in the form of health and social insurance. The company's hierarchies are flat, management and workers eat together, men and women meet on an equal footing. At exactly 12 noon the chef rings the gong for the 90-minute lunch break, and at exactly 4 p.m. everyone starts their scooters after seven hours of work and drives home to their families.
Last but not least, the porcelain workers in our company are paid significantly better than in other workshops. Fair wages and purchase prices also ensure that the know-how remains in the company and counteracts wage dumping and migration trends within the manufacturing industry.
