ELEPHANT FEET at the GDA 2024 Awards Ceremony
We were able to end the last year with the celebratory announcement of the award for our stoneware ELEPHANT FEET. The corresponding award ceremony will now take place today on January 26, 2024 in Frankfurt am Main at Kap Europa.
The German Design Award, an exclusive prize from the German Design Council, is one of the most prestigious awards in the design landscape worldwide. Since 2012, it has identified groundbreaking design trends, presented them to the public and honored outstanding achievements in product design, communication design and architecture.
ELEPHANT FEET was created in close collaboration with an experienced artist who has worked with celadon paints for over 20 years. His research into color variations includes mineral compositions, firing temperatures and air composition, resulting in soft matte to delicately glossy shades from sky blue to earthy green.
The collaboration makes it possible to reproduce the lively variety of glazes in a series production. The irregular shapes of ELEPHANT FEET reflect the dynamic workshop process. Hand-made test shapes were transferred to a series of cups, plates and bowls together with the artist, whereby the amorphous-organic randomness contributes to the lively appearance of ELEPHANT FEET.
It fills us with great joy and gratitude that our Celadon-style tableware series has received widespread recognition immediately after its market launch. And now the start of the new year brings us the honor of being awarded such a prestigious prize as the German Design Award.
