MAOMI's New Product: Stoneware ELEPHANT FEET

The ELEPHANT FEET stoneware is based on the work of the artist we work with. He has been working with celadon colors for over 20 years and researches their variations and reactions when modifying the composition of the minerals, the firing temperatures and the composition of the air. In this way, he creates beautiful, soft-matt and delicately shiny colors in all variations from sky blue to broken steel blue to earthy green, which form the basis of his artistic work.

The groups of multi-coloured small pots that he forms to test new glaze mixtures or variations and their interaction with firing temperature and oxygen saturation form a poetic, blue-green composition in the workshop. The interaction between the artist and the expertise of our producers has allowed us to recreate the vibrant variegation and depth of the glazes and make them available for serial production.

In addition to the color variations, the irregular shapes of ELEPHANT FEET reflect the workshop process when testing the glazes. In collaboration with the artist, we further developed the shapes of the small, hand-made test molds and transferred them to a series of cups, plates and bowls. The deliberate amorphous-organic randomness of this play of shapes also contributes to the lively appearance of ELEPHANT FEET.

ELEPHANT FEET made of stoneware is available in eight shapes: three plate sizes, three bowls and two cups.
